National Precast is a very different organisation to what it was some 25 years ago; even the last 5 years has seen some dramatic changes.

Started in 1990 by a small group of precast manufacturers, National Precast has grown to become the peak body for the Australian precast concrete industry and is now an organisation which is well known and respected within the construction sector. Now the precast manufacturing industry’s recognised voice, National Precast comprises members both large and small, in all product categories, and across all states.

Members of National Precast span the entire building and construction industry, and include precast manufacturers, product and service suppliers, builders, architects, engineers, solicitors, accountants and allied organisations. National Precast facilitates the development of improved relationships between industry stakeholders and the sharing of knowledge through quarterly national members’ meetings and dinners, workshops and other events.

Advocating at a state and national level

Contributing on many different forums, National Precast represents the industry at both state and national level and also, on many Australian Standards’ committees.

Educating architects, engineers, builders and precasters

The Association produces a constant supply of information across a number of platforms, which is readily available to the industry. As well as its publications – the most notable being the Precast Concrete Handbook – National Precast also has a formidable range of other information available. From the many fact sheets that can be found on the Association’s website, a regular supply of member case studies is also available. Another initiative, the free web user service, allows precasters, engineers, architects and contractors to sign up to receive regular electronic newsletters. The organisation also regularly produce editorials for industry journals (such as Construction Engineering Australia, Roads & Civil Australia and Sourceable) and has partnered with DesignBUILD exhibition.

Services for all

A range of other services are also frequently used by the industry. The Tender Service is popular for building contractors, making it easy for them to source prices from National Precast members, knowing they are dealing with precasters who have passed National Precast’s membership requirements.

Also available is the Find-a-Precaster service that is available on National Precast’s website, as well as the R-Value Calculator tool that calculates the thermal mass benefit of precast.

Membership changes

In recent times the Association has made some real changes which will see membership increasing and representing a wider sector of the industry. Provisional Precaster membership, for example, has been introduced to allow precasters to try membership for a heavily reduced fee. And membership now caters for individuals, with both students and individual engineers, architects, builders etc able to join.

National Precast now has a broad presence in almost every sphere. We are an energetic group of individuals, passionate about precast, working vigorously to continue the remarkable growth of precast and represent its interests. Join our community and use our services – there’s a lot on offer!

National Precast is the peak body for the precast concrete industry. Our mission is to influence, to connect people and knowledge, and to facilitate solutions for the benefit of the industry.
